Testimonials

"The Magico Q1 stand-mount sounded the best I??ve ever heard it....  the Q1 produced the most palpable and realistic midrange and image tangibility I heard in Denver.
- Robert Harley, The Absolute Sound, RMAF 2013 Show Report

"I highly recommend the Magico Q1 to all but the hardest of hard-rock music lovers. It is, as I said, the highest-fidelity, fullest-range, most transparent-to-sources two-way I??ve come across (and I??ve heard a few). It is also, in my experience, one of the two finest speakers??the other being my beloved Q5s??that Magico has yet come up with.... For listeners in small-to-medium-sized rooms who can??t house (or won??t stand for) big boxes or large panels that clutter up the décor, or for classical/jazz/acoustic-pop music lovers in any size room who want very close to the ultimate in transparency, resolution, and refinement at much less than a Q3/Q5 price, the Q1 would definitely be the Magico ticket I??d ride."
- Jonathan Valin, avguide.com (read the reveiw)

"Magico??s Q1 demonstrates that real-world and honest bottom-octave sound is possible from a two-way standmount sealed box loudspeaker, and from a speaker design that isn??t the size of a large fridge...

Few companies could even start to build with the dedication and single-mindedness that is needed to build a speaker this fantastic."
- Alan Sircom, HiFi+ (read the review)

"The Magico Q1 is a more than worthy successor to its category-defining predecessors, the Magico Mini and Mini II. Despite its smaller exterior dimensions (yet larger interior volume), the Q1 goes noticeably lower in the bass... Almost shocking in its ability to exceed expectations, it left agape the mouths of a string of visitors to my listening room. The visceral results ranged from tormenting to thrashing to unexpected, beckoning depths, but were most notable when the Q1s reproduced bass passages, from orchestral crescendos to hard-rock drum kits. My time with the Magico Q1s is over, but they are not forgotten. They have left on my ears an indelible mark."
- Peter Roth, Soundstagenetwork.com (read the review)

"We were able to compare Magicos discontinued Mini II with the company's new Q1 stand-mount loudspeaker. We listened to both. Sonically, the Q1 is better in every conceivable way: more extended top and bottom, improved resolution across the entire audioband, and simply breathtaking in terms of midrange clarity. The differences were not subtle!"

Overview

The Magico Q1 is a two-way, stand-mounted monitor that features a fully braced, fully damped aluminum and copper anodized enclosure. Internally the speaker incorporates a pair of Magico designed drivers: a single 7-inch Nano-Tec woofer and a 1-inch MBe-1 tweeter and these drivers are controlled by an advanced crossover network.

Through its Q platform technology, has also addressed the problem of stand-related resonances by coupling the speaker directly to the stand with the stand serving as a damping mechanism. The Q1 is 86dB efficient and it is rated to deliver a frequency response of 32Hz to 50kHz.

A modest sized monitor speaker, but it's sold with an integrated stand. Mounted on the stand, the Q1 measures 44 inches high, 10 inches wide, and 15.2 inches deep. The stand and speaker together weigh 120 pounds. Despite its compact dimensions, the Q1 can produce a surprising about of bass. But most Q1 buyers will be swayed by its extraordinary resolution of fine detail.

Magico, based in Berkeley, Calif., has established itself as a major American high-end speaker manufacturer in just a few years. The company builds state-of-the-art speakers with truly innovative technology.

Launched in 2005, the original Magico Mini not only redefined what was possible from a monitor speaker, but what was possible from any dynamic speaker.

With a level of speed and transparency previously reserved for Magnepans and electrostatic speakers, the Mini thrust Magico to the forefront of high-fidelity design.

Today Q1 is Magico??s statement on the art of the monitor. Surpassing its predecessors in every aspect of performance, Q1 resides in a class of its own.

Q1 transcends sonic holography to transport the listener to the original music event with sublime detail and surprising power.

60 pounds of intricately machined aluminum panels and braces compose the Q1?s enclosure, while another 60 pounds of aluminum forms the integrated, solid core, floor-stands. Precise measurements and rigorous listening determined this was the only way to achieve the full potential of Q1?s drive units.

Magico??s 7? Nano-Tech midbass driver produces bass down to 32 Hz while effortlessly spanning the midrange. Utilizing carbon-fiber and carbon nano-tube construction, the woofer cone is 50 times stronger than steel.

The same beryllium tweeter found throughout the Q series offers a level of detail and refinement that is unprecedented in our listening experience. Seamlessly integrated, treble ceases to exist as a distinct frequency range and simply becomes an integral part of each instrument??s sound.

For those seeking the finest monitor-speaker in the world, Q1 has arrived.
